Misuses of the tool leading to quirky details were voluntarily left as part of the design. Its small x-height create some very visble lines of text, which is quite uncommon for a sans serif typeface. It mixes to its good will shapes coming from the Fraktur script to others coming from display sans serif. Les nombreuses contraintes qui en découlent ont façonné un caractère lisible en petits corps, très peu encombrant et disposant de nombreuses variables pour autant de niveaux de lectures.[en] Ficus was designed during the Master in Typeface Design at the University of Reading (UK). It is an exercise on the model of typefaces for dictionaries.
